Photo Of the Month

This photo was taken by one of the staff of BlackBoard Arts in Honduras, Central America. Here is what he has to say about this photograph.

"I took this photograph after an exhausting day of trying to communicate in Spanish with local villagers. I was in a town were very few tourist were and the local economy is very limted. That being said, the sense of community in this area was unreal. At nighttime people flood the beaches to hang out, listen to music, dance and swin. I saw this group of kids climing up on a deserted bar overlooking the ocean and jumping off into the waters below. It took me about three takes to get this shot but I finally got the shot in mid air. I took this shot with my film camera so I had to wait until I got back home before I saw how it turned out, but I was very happy with the result. As you can see, I sillouhetted the photograph and placed the sun in the upper right corner to create a nice solar glare. The positioning of the kids is also critical and I even managed to capture one of them mid air with both arms up. I couldn't be happier with the positioning of the other child as well as he is just getting ready to jump.

I'm happy that this picture made it as "photo of the month" on the website this month.
